Description

The gravesite of Albertus C. Van Raalte in the Pilgrim Home Cemetery, Holland, Michigan. The gravestone is a tale, pale stone that reads "Albertus C. Van Raalte; By the grace of God. Minister of the gospel. Born at the parsonage at Wanneterveen the Netherlands; Oct.17.1811; Died Nov.7.1876 at Holland, Mich." Beside and slightly behind the gravestone is a historical marker that says, "Feb. 9, 1847; Albertus Christiaan Van Raalte; Today he speaks to us as he did to his followers on the 25th anniversary of his founding of our Holland Community in 1847: Beloved, who follow us in this inheritance, we give it over to you with joy. But do not forget, we received it from God as a training school for eternity - a work place for God's kingdom. This shall prosper in hands provided God and His kingdom remain your precious portion in life."
