"Chair Study" was originally createdas a solo for the Holland Libertyfest celebration- the solo premiered in July 1988. The following year it bloomed into a 3 part work, with Part I being a solo, moving to Part II - a duet, and concluding with a fun-filled- secretarial fantasy on rolling chairs with 3 dancers in Part III. It premiered as a full work in Muskegon, MI at the Overbrook Theater, performed by Kate McGory, Julie Powell, and Judith Brooky (Graham was pregnant). The work was subsequently performed in the repertory of Aerial Dance Tehater from 1989-2000; it joined the repertory of the Grand Rapids Ballet in 1991, and was set on the Joffrey Ballet (Arpino Apprentices) in 2002.
