Description

Portrait of Philip Phelps Jr., shortly after his arrival in Holland from New York. He stands beside a pillar and has one elbow resting on top of the pillar. One hand is along his side while the other hand holds a top hat. He wears a dark suit, jacket, white shirt, and dark tie. Note the dress coat and top hat which would have been unheard of in the Holland Colony that time.
