Description
At this Consistory meeting of the First Reformed Church, the members prepared a double slate for nomination to Consistory. The names of T. Keppel, A. Krabshuis, Kroes, and J. van de Luijster would be presented to the congregation for the two elders who were to be elected. Since three deacons were to be elected, all nominees of the congregation would be presented: D. te Roller, R. Schilleman, P. de Vries, Kroes, van de Liujster, and J. van Dijk. A third deacon would be voted in if Keppel were elected to the position of elder and vacate his deacon's position. Other matters also came before the Consistory. Rev. Albertus C. Van Raalte presided at the meeting and wrote up the minutes.

About the collection:
Elton J. Bruins, long-time professor in the Department of Religion at Hope College, spent years collecting documents by and about Albertus C. Van Raalte, founder of Holland, Michigan and early patron of Hope College. Documents were gathered from dozens of public and private collections, making a nearly exhaustive collection of Van Raalte's writings and reflections. It is these documents that make up the "Van Raalte Papers."
Digitizing the Van Raalte papers was supported by the Dutch Culture USA program by the Consulate General of the Netherlands in New York. The project was done in partnership with Heritage Hall at Calvin University, which also digitized its Van Raalte collections.
