A family of missionaries to India in the 20th century. John James De Valois (1892-1988) served as an agricultural missionary to India for forty years for the Agricultural Institute, C.S.I., at Katpadi, India, 1920-1960. Henriette Margaret De Valois (1894-1944) served as a missionary to India alongside her husband, John James De Valois, until her death in 1944. John James De Valois married Dr. Bernadine Siebers in 1946, who had been serving as a medical missionary in India since 1936. Siebers graduated from Hope College in 1930. The collection contains biographical information on the three family members and the self-published Autobiography of John James De Valois: Agricultural Missionary, Church of South India (1978).
